about.
Mario Gonzales (When It Reigns I’m Poor) is a New York City based multi-disciplinary street artist/educator. He began painting and drawing in the streets of Oakland, California circa 2007. He drew influence from and learned under the apprencticeship of Bay Area Graffiti Legend IKSOE of the FTL(Fuck The Law) Crew. It was these years in Oakland he learned the important notion of artistic repetition to develop a style and take to the streets. He has continued to make and show new work in a number of venues in both the Bay Area and New York. He completed a street art Residency at the Lower East Side’s Con Artist Collective in the winter of 2017. His work is currently displayed and can be seen At Leez New York downtown. Lastly, Mario has returned to school at Queens College CUNY in pursuit of an Art Education Degree.
